Meet Dan Kirkland, MS, LPC-S
Born in the vibrant landscapes of South Louisiana, Dan's journey through life has been marked by the transitions of time and place, ultimately leading him to a profound passion for counseling. At the tender age of eight, Dan's family uprooted to Mississippi, immersing him in the rich tapestry of country living. Surrounded by the beauty of nature and embraced by a close-knit community, he discovered his affinity for horses, the art of fishing, and the joys of genuine human connections.
These experiences have uniquely equipped Dan with a deep understanding of the transformative power of connections. Having navigated the changes and challenges that come with moving, adapting, and connecting with others, he knows firsthand the importance of empathy, understanding, and effective communication. It's this wealth of personal experiences that enables him to connect with you on a profound level.
Telehealth Relationship and Individual Therapy
At the core of Dan's practice is a deep commitment to nurturing healthy relationships and individual well-being. Specializing in Gottman Relationship Therapy, he empowers couples to navigate their partnerships with expertise honed over decades. Dan's evidence-based approach helps couples build stronger foundations, enhance communication, and cultivate lasting intimacy. Dan's expertise isn't confined to relationship therapy; he also excels in individual therapy. Employing a holistic approach, he guides clients on journeys of self-discovery and personal growth. With years of counseling mastery, he creates a nurturing space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges.
Gottman Relationship Therapy
Gottman Relationship Therapy aims to address conflicting verbal communication, boost intimacy, respect, and affection, as well as break down barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy. The goal is to create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Counseling
People on the autism spectrum are largely misunderstood and underestimated. Even on the spectrum, every human being is different from the other. If you are on the spectrum, Dan would be honored to be your therapist. We could do this individually or with your partner utilizing Gottman Relationship Therapy.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is offered for older adolescents (17 and older) and adults who are not coming in with a significant other. In our first session, we get to know each other. You will be able to tell me about your life and the struggles you are currently facing.
Counseling Meets Comfort
In a world where technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, Dan's commitment to his clients' well-being has led him to seamlessly integrate telehealth into his practice. This innovative approach, known as telecounseling or teletherapy, represents a powerful union of convenience and quality care. Telehealth, in Dan's practice, is not merely a response to changing times; it's a proactive step toward improving the accessibility of counseling services. With the rise of digital communication, Dan recognized the potential to extend his therapeutic reach beyond the confines of a physical office. By offering virtual sessions, he's breaking down geographical barriers and eliminating the need for his clients to travel long distances. Whether you're in a rural area, a bustling city, or anywhere in between, Dan's expertise is now just a virtual connection away.
