Dan Kirkland

Learn More About Dan

I was born in south Louisiana. When I was eight my family moved to Mississippi until I was thirteen, then we found Texas. I graduated from R.L. Turner High School in Carrollton. I then enjoyed four years at Texas A&M-Commerce where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree with double majors-Counseling and Psychology.

In 1993 I was licensed as a Professional Counselor by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Licensed Professional Counselors. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor. I supervise Master's level interns as they provide therapy and work toward licensure as a therapist. I love my work. It could not be better.

I Want To Be There

For over 20 years I have worked with clients of all ages in a variety of settings. Those include major psychiatric facilities where I developed comprehensive family systems programs for child and adolescent psychiatric day patients, and administrated a multifaceted educational and therapeutic program for mentally ill adolescents and their families. I have also developed and implemented therapy, training, and educational groups. Since 2000 I have been in Private practice in Richardson. I have experienced over 1000 hours of continuing education courses, and tens of thousands of hours in counseling experience

I provide therapy for children, adolescents and adults, both individually and in relationship therapy. Life is too short. Happiness must not be an option but an imperative. My clients enjoy the therapeutic process and often tell me they appreciate being understood and accepted as they are. I enjoy being a part of that process.

If you would like to talk to me by phone please call me to discuss your therapy needs. You can also email me, if you prefer. Feel free to schedule an appointment online. I am looking forward to meeting you!
